I can’t seem to modify the title of this chat, I would recommend we change it to something like:

ARTM signalétique métropolitaine

It would be more clear to separate it from other signage in public space

Okay so turns out I did some research, the STM sorta lied to me about the limits. This was true in 2016, but as of now they can totally fit a letter after the route number and there’s no memory limits. The STM currently has maybe 300 routes saved on the computers, and TTC which uses the same exact system has 1400 with letters.

Additionally the Electric New Flyer buses have colour displays on them and the STM just set them to the default Orange/Red, they can instead have white text and the frequent lines have the route numbers be in a purple box. The STM could hire someone to do this, and it can be done (and I know someone that would do it for them if anyone from the STM sees this).

Did you check about the Axion Technologies Orange LED that are on the 2019 and previous buses ?

The funny part is that it’s mostly only Québec transit agencies who have this type of bus destination signs.

BC Transit has the same destination signs, and I believe that the LFS of Translink too; however, TTC does not.

This page have all the customers for Axion Technologies. The specific model is not mentioned though for each customer.

@mashdash Do you know if the STM destination signs have the wheelchair icon? They’ve been displaying on STL and RTL buses and today I noticed my local, recently-accessible exo line shows them now too.

Oh, I should have taken a picture of what I saw today! I was so pissed.

Level SS2 in Espace Montmorency is an unground parking level that connects to the metro station. But they’ve bastardized the arrow of the Metro icon to fit their esthetic (on a black background, like Kevric). And the parking aisle signage for drivers has two roundels (one green, one teal?) on a black background, I presume to point to different parts of the parking lot or exits for cars… but that look confusingly like the numberless roundels used on the metro now!

Montreal and the Government of Québec needs to put their foot down. Private compagnies almost never accept even the smallest modification to their trademark and logo. It would really help if the ARTM had consistent signage instead of the ever changing mess we’ve had theses last few years. Instead of hiring a designer firm, they seriously need to read the manuals and design documents of renowned transit agencies elsewhere.

Yes but … to encourage consistency, the design specifications and assets should be released in an open licence. After all, it’s governmental; it belongs to everyone.

For instance, Mobilité Île-de-France, Paris’s equivalent to the ARTM, publishes its specs uses a Creative Commons licence.

Massive coordinated effort across all actors for unified REM shuttle signage. Kevric, Cominar and others all have uniform signs installed. Well done on all parties.

N’empêche que la correspondance entre Bonaventure et GC laisse encore à désirer, avec des logos du REM en noir et blanc franchement trop petits à mon goût.

My dream would be floor signage on top of larger wall signage, and with some more money, backlit signs as well

We can always dream about it… or take it into our own hands!

Aujourd’hui j’ai vu une autobus qui disait « PROGRAMME Ok » mais je n’ai pas réussi à prendre un photo.

2 « J'aime »

Moi aussi je vu ça dans affichage.

Content de savoir que le programme va bien…
