STM - Refonte du réseau bus

Does someone know how much a taxibus ride costs per passenger to the STM?

With the green line breakdown the other day, all the 198, 195, and 496 buses were late because some were serving as shuttles (similar to the buses in the article during the REM breakdown). But there aren’t any articles about that… and there shouldn’t be because it was just a few buses 6 minutes off from schedule.

Does someone remember how long is the STM required to reveal the new network before it’s inauguration? Was it like 6 months? (That was what the IDS info delay was) And if that’s the case are we looking at april for October? Or because it’s “la refonte de l’ouest” they have less obligations to reveal the info?

The STM is rushing this redesign more than they want to, to catch up with the REM. I’m assuming they’re using every day possible to plan the changes they actually want (like removing and moving stops too), which is why it’s not out yet.

They would give 1 year of a “public reveal,” followed by more adjustments, but simply don’t have the time. For Nun’s Island they just gave 3 months before the opening of the REM

The REM opening has been delayed multiple times though, what would the STM have done if the REM had stuck to any of its previous target dates?

They would’ve adopted routes more similar to what’s existing, similar to Nun’s Island currently, or the recent LaSalle/Verdun/Lachine redesign, where adjustments were done but not many stops were removed as they wanted.

We’ll see a “real” redesign after they do West Island and the TMR + CDN redesign

I can’t understand tho, the refonte de l’ouest started in full covid season… How hard can it even be? Is it like just 1 guy doing the whole thing or whatnot?

Reorganizing a network this big is a very complex process, can you not ridiculize it please?

I’m remaining hopeful, but as I stated earlier in this thread, someone working on the redesign came to speak to us in class in early December and told us that after feedback from other sectors and due to budget limitations, they’ve scaled back ambitions for the remaining areas of the redesign. It might still be more involved than the IDS redesign, but I’m afraid we’ll all be a bit disappointed.

See, because they just refuse to ever give ANY details at both ca meeting and aglo meeting when asked by both the public and the elected officials, it’s hard to see any of the work that is actually being made. And we are now in 2025 with a deadline that’s approaching. No trying to rediculise it.

Do you know what the deadline is? Other than the REM opening period which is vague in itself (Fall 2025).

Don’t confuse your excitement in seeing the redesign for being worried about delays.

I’m mostly comparing the STM to how exo did it and how they already gave a baseline back in March of 2023

Not at all the same size of network and I’m willing to bet that part of the network presented by exo will have changed.

The exo network will have changed obviously, but they where willing to give the public a baseline years ago. STM even with an access to info we can’t get any information at all

Anyways so if we assume 3 months and we assume early ish fall (they stated that if it was late fall they would have said late fall) so mid October (1½ month of dry runs) so could we assume they would reveal the details in July?

No it’s not just one guy doing the whole redesign, it’s a team with a lot of people, not to mention they have to go back and forth with elected officials and locals that have their specified needs. It seems easy to do a redesign on paper, you simply draw the lines, but it’s way more complex. We shouldn’t simply things to “well exo did it so STM can” when it’s a whole different service with different needs
