Des travaux de voirie sont en cours sur la rue de Verdun entre la 2ème avenue et la rue Argyle, jusqu’au 6 février selon l’échéancier prévu par la Ville de Montréal. La voie cyclable est ainsi bloquée et fait l’objet d’un détour, et 26 places de stationnement payant sont inaccessibles.
Durant les opérations, des panneaux incitent également la population à éviter la voie piétonnière côté ouest de la rue de Verdun. Les arrêts, trajets et horaires d’autobus de la Société de transport de Montréal (STM) sont aussi susceptibles d’être modifiés.

I called AMD multiple times across different days and they don’t seem to be ticketing them
Update: most have been ticketed, and others towed! It seems they used the snow clearing alarms before ticketing everyone, and some people moved out of the way and others didn’t

Two cars actively parking in the bike lane to pick up their kid from school (instead of around the corner at the pickup area), with the police telling them to stop. This happens every day and there’s no consequences.
My dream scenario is retractable bollards here, where they retract for trash vehicles for the school, and remain up to prevent people from doing this all the time.

It’s currently not under construction but I believe will be more this coming summer around Verdun station, and eventually rue De L’Église (but I think that’s later)

Je viens de passer, exactement le même parents (même plaque). Décidément, un parent trop pressé pour aller au bon endroit.
Il y a un absence total de contrôle sur la piste de Verdun.

With the snow gone, you can see the yellow line towards the intersection has faded. Many people illegally cross the yellow line to swerve around cars turning right, onto incoming traffic, instead of waiting a few seconds. Similarly, I’ve seen many cars swerving around buses stopped at a raised bus stop, instead of waiting 30 seconds. It’s not the worst thing ever, but it would be interesting if the city could prevent this
I shared earlier but a hardened centreline could prevent this, even something rubber and plastic that can fit without reducing the size of the lanes:
Unrelated, I’m interested in what the design of permanent work will be done in front of Verdun station, I hope there will be renders of it!

C’est pas normal d’avoir à attendre 30 secondes pour absolument rien alors que le feu est vert. C’est un aménagement créateur de congestion et de pollution. Ça ne fait pas de sens alors les conducteurs contournent ceux qui attendent pour tourner. Ça prend une voie de voyage à droite ou rien.

This isn’t a major thoroughfare, it’s a smaller residential road with businesses in only a few sections and several schools. You’re waiting 30 seconds for either a bus to pick up and drop off passengers, or a car to able to turn and cross the bike lane and crosswalk, which barely impacts travel time. If that feels unacceptable, that’s just entitlement.
There isn’t space for a passing or turn lane without putting people on bikes at risk, so expecting one here is unrealistic.

Besides, there’s literally Champlain a few blocks down south which is specifically designed as a throughfare

Question de débutante: j’ai récemment passé près de l’intersection dans la photo de mashdash plus haut. J’aime beaucoup la brique. Est-ce qu’il y à un nom précis pour ce type de pavé? Et comment on ferait pour avoir ce genre de rue partout…?
