There is inspector before the fare gate. And technically if you didn’t leave the gate you are not on the zone yet. This how it works in all public transport systems all over the world.
So. Imagine if the orange line was a loop people can go from Henri bourassa station to bois franc station via laval using an A title.
Tbh this is the same issue i have with broken elevators at Henri bourassa, a eventual Jean drapeaux, ids, Pierrefonds-Roxburo and sainte-dorotée, what are wheelchair users expected to do if the elevator breaks? They are supposed to take the metro/rem to b/c zone and come back but this would break the rules…
I asked the artm and they can’t find an official exception for wheelchair users and just told me users are expected to pay there fair unless explicitly told by an inspector they have an one time exception
It’s not written directly, but under rule 45, any other problem that causes you not to have the correct fare, such as I am guessing, elevator malfunction, you must make it clear the problem so that the corrective mesures can be applied.
The STM also puts stickers next to elevators instructing people to go to the next station in order to go back afterwards. So it is allowed via signage.
Pretty sure Telecité got bought out by Alstom sometime in the 2010s, haven’t heard of any developments since. I’m guessing it isn’t worth the money to transcribe Ads or news into their dot matrix and regularly update it anymore, especially with phones everywhere
Well yes and no… With WFH we probably wont see rush hour ridership like we used to, but let’s say we did, then its just a numbers game no? The DM train schedule used to be a pretty heavy bell curve with about half of its morning departures concentrated between 7am and 8am (i believe 5 departures), so if old habits were to return then Id expect that same time “slice” to be as jam packed (if not moreso than before due to reduced seating)
The old exo6 DM line was three trains an hour from Roxboro, max, at rush hour. REM will be 12 an hour, and likely four-car trains, true show-up-and-go.
The old way, let’s say you had a 10am class at McGill. You’d need to show up for the 8:15 in hopes of getting to Central by 8:43 – along with all the people who start work at 9, 9:15, 9:30 – because the next departure was at 8:58 and might pull into Central at 9:25. With REM, you’ll just go when you need to go, while the people who start earlier show up when they need to go.
