I think it’s safe to say that the rem has become an incredibly important part of the metropolitan transit way

Who broke the elevator

Maybe there was an electric breakdown around IDS that caused the interruption and it made elevators stop. And by breakdown I don’t mean HQ but the REM electric set up. Just my opinion here.

I talked with some of the workers managing it, they were telling me how there’s only 2 of them to manage everyone. Some people were going to TCV still that they had to tell to leave, and all while people were exiting onto the street. The REM security told me that the change was made to the street because it was more clear for people, but then the space isn’t large enough to manage everyone.

The buses stopped in the middle of the block because the bus stop further down was for STM shuttles to IDS, which meant there was less space to line up for RTL buses. Because there were just two managers, the police had to be called to manage the crowds and stop cars from travelling east down De La Gauchetière.

The RTL manager said how this was the first time they did this, so they don’t know if they prefer this over TCV, but in terms of managing RTL buses, it was harder to get them to De La Gauchetière. Several drivers didn’t know where to wait, so they had to run and point, police guided with flash lights.

When service did resume, the REM displays were spamming every minute that service is normal, because the alert saying service is not working kept going off every 3 minutes (and they couldn’t turn it off). People were confused at the gates thinking the service was down when really it was up and running again

Apparently, the big issue with TCV is that there was overcrowding to the point where it was dangerous as it is a cramped space. A better space for bus operations but using the street is a lot safer for people which is the priority.
