Aéroport Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) - Discussion générale

Would the new satellite concourse have their own customs, or would it require people to walk to it, which would me separation of the tunnel (into two I guess)

I really wish we got a top 10 of unserved destinations from YUL coming with this

I really doubt there will be any US departures from the satellite. US arrivals would go through the Canada immigration and customs hall like any other international arrival.

Really not sure how to read the second chart. What numbers correspond with which data?

Based on one render, the tunnel seems to have at least two separated hallways, so arriving passengers will likely use one of those to get to customs. I think London-Heathrow is like that, I remember using a separated tunnel for arriving passengers underneath the taxiways. With the main terminal building being expanded and fattened northward, the customs hall will likely be expanded as well, they’ve said in the past the baggage area is gonna get bigger and the customs hall sits directly above it.

J’y comprends rien non plus.

I can comment on the US carriers; none of the numbers match any reality I can consider. Is “one-way flights” departures? Arrivals? Both? Mainline only? Nope, still doesn’t compute.

April 2025 numbers are out and other than USA/transborder, things are finally looking up.

April +3.8%
Domestic +11.1%
International +7.2%
Transborder -10.9%

I’ll repeat that (IMO) most of the negative result for transborder is AC.

Didn’t Delta cancel their flights to JFK and reduce MSP from a 319 to a CR9.
Like you said it’s your opinion but it’s definitely not just coming from AC. From what I’ve seen the last few weeks the loads to the US are still pretty decent, not previous levels but decent. Just because the baggage room seems empty doesn’t shy from the possibility that people are just travelling with their carry on.

On another note I wonder if Alaska will still be keeping an eye out for YUL. I mean based on how YYZ is doing (no cuts) I think it’s still possible.

Minnie hasn’t been mainline in a few years. JFK’s removal last fall was a bit of a bummer, but the decision was based on yields. Meanwhile, Atlanta was upgauged to A319s (and occasional 320s) from 717s. A second Minneapolis flight was planned starting in May, but that was shelved after the inauguration. Make of that what you will.

I’m pretty sure MSP operated A319 last summer, DL1181. Nonetheless the loss of what was it 3 daily JFK is definitely contributing to a drop in US numbers as well.

It is a preliminary list but I wonder what it means for Montreal? It is an “expanded” list of cities but they only have so many 200LR’s so something has to change in their operations somewhere. It’s one of 4 possibilities for YUL I guess. Either nothing changes, they’re upgrading us to a 777-300, they’ll use a new A350 or they’re dropping us from their network.

Anyone out there have any idea how well YUL is performing for them over the last few years?

It’s probably the A350 or 777-300ER. Thankfully it’s pretty much impossible EK drops the route; it has been going daily for almost 2 years now. If they had any intention of doing so they probably would have started by reducing the frequency to maybe 4 or 5 times a week a long time ago.

QR semble diminuer la fréquence à cinq vols hebdomadaires à compter de la semaine du 15 juin

Could be because they introduced flights to Toronto.
