AC has previously mentioned that demand specifically to Italy, Portugal, BCN and Mediterranean regions like ATH & NCE are in high demand. Therefore I only mentioned those routes, I apologize for the confusion. AC does well filling those flights with connections from the US also, which does really well for AC.
So yes you’re correct, ALG is a Mediterranean city too. This flight particularly carries 95% local traffic, and Canadians & Americans are required to have a visa to enter Algeria, which doesn’t exactly make it a popular or trending destination.

They’re Mediterranean countries. I mean, they’re members of NATO, and they’re not even in the North Atlantic!
Rumors are circulating on airliners.net on a foreign carrier (that is not Air China) that used to serve Montreal a long time ago launching (resuming) a new route to YUL for Summer 2025. Any guesses?

It could be a number of carriers.
LOT Polish Airlines, Iberia, SAS, ITA Airways (ex-Alitalia), those all served Montreal in the past and could potentially come back. If I had to guess for those, I would say ITA seems more likely.

The most logical carrier would be ITA, but I really think YUL for ITA is not even worth sending a plane to, but then I see AC and you wonder. I think with LH partnership it is possible.
Iberia is the best option, due to aircraft just like TAP

If you ask me, it’s between Iberia, SAS, or Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus planned to add YUL in summer 2020 (I think?) but cancelled because of the pandemic. Have they reconsidered? My money is on Iberia from Madrid with an A321XLR.

Des contrôles plus fluides à Montréal-Trudeau
Plus besoin de retirer son ordinateur portable de son sac à dos. Exit l’obligation de sortir liquides, aérosols et autres gels autorisés (en bouteilles de moins de 100 ml) de son bagage de cabine. Et terminée la nécessité de placer directement dans un bac les appareils médicaux. Grâce à la nouvelle technologie de radioscopie à tomodensitométrie, qui vient d’être implantée à Montréal-Trudeau, les voyageurs en partance de cet aéroport n’ont plus à se plier à ces embêtantes formalités, qui ralentissent le contrôle des passagers et allongent les files. C’est du moins le cas dans l’une des voies de contrôle de l’aéroport, la seule à avoir été aménagée de la sorte à ce jour. Mais ce n’est que le début : la nouvelle technologie sera progressivement déployée et remplacera petit à petit celle qui est présentement en place. Hélas, les passagers à destination des États-Unis doivent toujours retirer leurs chaussures lors de leur passage aux points de contrôle de sécurité.
