ADM a tenu cet après-midi une journée de portes ouvertes pour présenter la nouvelle réglementation en matière des heures d’opérations des aéronefs. Il ne sera plus question du poids de l’appareil, mais plutôt du niveau de bruit émis normalement par chaque type d’aéronef. Fait intéressant rapporté par des membres de la direction d’ADM, si normalement un A350 est planifié par le transporteur sur une liaison par exemple entre 23h et minuit (l’A350 est considéré comme de catégorie 3 au niveau du bruit donc décollage possible jusqu’à minuit), le transporteur ne pourra pas changer pour un B777 qui lui est de catégorie 4 (décollage limité jusqu’à 23 heures) en utilisant l’horaire planifié initialement par un A350. On voit que certains vols gros porteurs seront affectés (par exemple le vol TS582 de ce soir vers Toulouse avec un A332 prévu pour 23h40) lorsque ce sera en vigueur. Bravo à la direction d’avoir pris le temps d’expliquer aux citoyens.
Par contre, je m’explique mal pourquoi lors de la saison hivernale (novembre à avril), il est possible pour les appareils de catégorie 4 de décoller jusqu’à minuit tandis que l’été jusqu’à 23 heures. L’horaire différent était justifié par ADM par les doubles rotations effectuées par les appareils vers le sud l’hiver, par contre, il me semble qu’il n’y a aucun appareil de catégorie 4 qui décollerait vers le sud aussi tard.

In Air Canada’s investor day presentation last week they mentioned that future Asian destinations would likely be Ho Chi Minh City and Manila, both served from Vancouver. Don’t forget that Air Canada is very restricted by its available aircrafts, they can’t really open new routes until they start receiving the 787-10 and the A321XLR, both at the end of next year. I think if Air Canada opens an asian route from Montreal, Shanghai would be an obvious choice.
Sao Paulo is the economic heart of Brazil and has a metropolitan population of more than 23 million… I don’t think the type of traffic on the route is vacation people.

Just a clarification.
I was referring to Rio not São Paulo with regards to a vacation destination for the very reason you pointed out.
For the Asian routes I’m hopeful for foreign carriers to be part of that equation too.

Well, I hope we get our YUL-PEK with Air China back and also our YUL-PVG with Air Canada one day; apparently it was some popular routes! Anyway, does anyone have any news about that? I suppose it’s all because of the tension and the politics between China and Canada.

Caught this rare A330-300 which was a substitute for an Air Algérie A330-200 on their early morning flight. CAA is an airline from the DR of Congo in Africa. It was actually a Hi Fly Malta owned aircraft.
