Escalator are present in train stations & airport across the world… no drama to report daily over here. If you are carrying a normal size suitcase, taking elevator is not ‘‘dangerous’’. Carrying cart in the escalator yes that would be a dumb idea, but people with a carry-one on wheel, would have definitively appreciate the escalator to go down to the station.
Comme tu le dis, il y a déjà des escalator dans le terminal sans qu’il y ait d’incidents. De nombreuses personnes voyagent uniquement avec un bagage de cabine ou une petite valise et les empruntent tous les jours.
YTZ only has elevators to get up to and down from the tunnel. That airport handles over 2M passengers per year who (in addition to staff) all have to pass through those elevators. As long as there is some additional airport capacity for the REM station at YUL, I don’t see a problem given the estimated ridership.
I know Pearson have much more people using it, but since the entire débarcadère area will be in construction for many years, the ridership of that station might be much higher then regular prevision.
Personne ne prononce le nom de la station dans cette microvidéo de la Gazette!
REM’s Trudeau airport station is 80 per cent completed and on schedule
It seems hard to believe, but the Réseau express métropolitain’s Trudeau airport station is nearly completed and will be ready to see its first trains starting next year. The station is 80 per cent done and still on schedule to enter into service by the end of 2027, which will include a months-long phase of testing.
I’m curious about something, and I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed.
For the A4 (Airport) spur, will each station have double tracks even though the overall line is single-track? If so, will it be set up so that when a train arrives at a station, another train going in the opposite direction arrives at the same time, allowing multiple trains to pass each other?
At any airport train stations I’ve frequented, there are always bollards on the landings of escalators that are far enough apart for rollaboard carry-ons, but restrictive enough to deter passengers from trying to get carts and full-size suitcases on them.
WRT to the elevators, a properly operated airport transit line will have frequent enough service that crush loads should rarely (if ever) be an issue.
