It’s a day many in Toronto thought would never come: the opening of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
The first phase of the long-awaited light rail line, which was marred by budget overruns and construction delays, officially launched on Sunday, six years behind schedule and 15 years after construction began.
Many have expressed frustration with the length of the project and the impact on many businesses, with some calling for a public inquiry. But as Lexy Benedict reports, many today were just excited to take the new line for a spin.
Alstom’s new battery-powered train starts passenger service in Germany
The first battery-powered train developed and manufactured by Alstom is now officially in passenger service. On the Chemnitz–Leipzig line in Saxony, Germany, now the new Coradia Continental battery trains are running. A win for green rail mobility and of course for passengers.

Le RER C, c’est la force jaune pâle du réseau : incidents à répétition, régularité aléatoire… le RER C est loin d’être une ligne fiable, ce qui ne facilite pas vraiment la vie des 540 000 voyageurs quotidiens. D’où l’idée d’autonomiser ses branches les plus en difficulté… Prochaines branches concernées, celles de Dourdan et d’Etampes, via la création d’une nouvelle ligne, la ligne Y. De quoi redonner durablement des couleurs à l’ensemble du RER C?

Le modèle RER repose sur plusieurs branches du vieux réseau qui n’était pas pensé pour le service d’aujourd’hui. Au moment de la construction du RER les tunnels coûteux à Paris ont coûté cher et moins d’argent est allé en couronne ce qui a encore des conséquences aujourd’hui.
La ligne 2C du métro de Santo Domingo vers Los Alcarrizos va ouvrir le 24 février.
El presidente de la República, Luis Abinader, informó que la Línea 2C del Metro de Santo Domingo será inaugurada el próximo 24 de febrero, marcando un nuevo avance en el sistema de transporte masivo del país.
El mandatario anunció además que el servicio en esta nueva extensión del Metro será totalmente gratuito para los usuarios hasta la Semana Santa, como parte de una medida especial destinada a facilitar el acceso de la población y promover el uso del sistema durante su etapa inicial de operación.
La Línea 2C conectará importantes sectores del Gran Santo Domingo, especialmente el municipio de Los Alcarrizos, lo que permitirá reducir significativamente los tiempos de traslado, descongestionar el tránsito y mejorar la calidad de vida de miles de ciudadanos.
