One thing I find really strange is the lack of advertisement for EMIRATES in Montreal… it is at none. This is strange, as the airline is known for their ads. The only ad I have seen is on Youtube. Where a flight attendant holds a sign of Montreal atop the Barj Khalifa.
I wonder if this is coming soon to Montreal.
I have also noticed that GDS loads seem strong. I have looked at many dates, and it seems impressive. Looking good

I would also add more people in their region know Emirates, they may in fact be their go to airline when travelling. For many Montrealers they’re new and probably a somewhat unknown entity, so the outbound from here would be smaller at this point. I’d be curious to know how many of them booked through Air Canada (presuming AC is code sharing on this route)

I caught Azores Airlines leased Plus Ultra A330-200 this morning in the clouds. It only appeared for about 2 seconds so I got lucky… not a great shot but I’ll take it.

From this angle it looks like the water service truck underneath the aft left caught fire. ADM’s ARFF crews got it controlled quickly. Fin 731 is one of AC’s oldest 777-300ERs, it had just landed from Geneva.

I hope the plane only had cosmetic damage. Even if it is a very old plane, it deserves a proper decommissioning from service, rather than forced retirement.

Malheureusement ce sont des choses qui arrivent suite à un mauvais concours de circonstances et qui pourraient arriver tout autant au plus récent appareil d’une flotte. Ce qui montre bien à quel point la sécurité des passagers est primordiale et ne peut pas être relâchée tant qu’il reste un dernier voyageur à bord d’un avion. C’est d’ailleurs la tâche première des agents de bord qui doivent toujours demeurer alertes en toute circonstances.
Heureusement l’entrainement, l’encadrement et la supervision du personnel navigant sont constants, les accidents et les incidents sont immédiatement répertoriés, analysés et font l’objet de recommandations diffusées (sitôt l’enquête terminée), à tout le personnel relié aux opérations au sol comme en vol.
À noter aussi que chaque employé du service en vol, pilotes et PNC, doivent suivre des examens annuels (intenses), afin de s’assurer qu’ils maintiennent en tout temps leur compétence et qu’ils sont à jour dans la connaissance, les techniques, les outils et les pratiques propres à leurs fonctions respectives.
Comme l’industrie aérienne est en évolution permanente, il est particulièrement du devoir de chaque travailleur dans la chaine d’opérations de prendre connaissance des derniers changements, informations pertinentes et procédures émises par le Ministère des Transports (MOT) reliés à leurs tâches quotidiennes. Parce que la sécurité est l’affaire de tous, notamment par son caractère imprévisible et la nécessité de réagir efficacement et sans délai à toute occasion.

Agreed. I saw on Twitter this morning that the British Airways 772 that had the catastrophic engine fire in Las Vegas which literally.burned a hole right through into the cargo hole was repaired and put back into service. This didn’t do that much damage in comparison but it will put the plane out of service for a while until it’s repaired and that will give Air Canada one more issue to deal with this summer.
On a side note this was their first 777, the one that did a low bypass over corporate HQ on its arrival from Boeing.
