Considering that a large percentage of jobs in the West Island are closer to the 20 than the 40, it still makes much more sense to improve and electrify exo1 VH to LL. For a fraction of the cost of extending REM-A across a dozen kilometres of farmland, the Grand Parc, and SmartCentres, and building the new bridge to accommodate a heavy transit infrastructure, exo1 could provide really good, quick regional rail service. Imagine hopping on a quick, quiet train that departs every 15 minutes from Vaudreuil to industrial areas in Baie-d’Urfé and Pointe-Claire, and the huge employment hubs in Dorval and Lachine before connecting to downtown.
