“Ces”? Tim Thomas. He sounds like a typical xenophobic white West Islander in the 1970s and 80s when the CTCUM expanded bus service into the area, and it was the end of the world and the sky was falling because they thought outsiders would now overrun the West Island destroying their way of life.

Michel Gibson did also blame Valerie Plante for the lack of parking at Kirkland and Fairview, which is 100% a CDPQ decision (and a smart financial one if developments start popping up quickly around these stations).

:joy:
‘‘Commuter rail’’

I think the five-second sound bites were very good at distorting what may have actually been discussed. For example, there’s no by-law prohibiting me from dropping off my wife at Kirkland, even though we’re from “outside,” Pierrefonds. Gibson may have been hyperbolizing, probably about the long-envisaged A440 boulevard becoming a bus-and-bikeway thanks directly to Plante’s involvement, and the central city administration’s refusal to listen to area leaders and residents.

That is solely your opinion.

Kirkland station is at a nearly abandoned shopping center. There are 2000 parking spots that are not being used. Fairview station is across the street from where contractors pile up the snow they plow from the immense 15,000 space Fairview parking lot. There are easily 500 spots available on any given day. I’m not saying people should drive to the metro, but if you make it difficult to get there by any other means, such as has been done in Kirkland and Pierrefonds, people will still get in their cars to get from A to B rather than take public transit.

This is mainly a problem with RTL, having such a small budget and not having more frequent service. Even with the bus redesign, service could be made more frequent and more people would take the bus

What happened to all those buses that no longer cross the bridge?

Les mystères de la vie

Their budget was cut at the same time so they got maybe a 20% increase in service overall than the expected maybe 50%? Not sure the exact numbers that was just a guess

That’s good. The more they become a part of daily life, the more normal it will seem to have trains on a viaduct. Acceptance will naturally follow.
