The doc has many options for new station entrance

What i hate about this modernisation:

  • They will purposely keep the station 100% inaccessible by using stairs instead of any kind of ramp.
  • This station would be a perfect example of a station that could use the new artm fare gates.
  • This station will still dump people into the middle of nowhere with only a taxi as a transfer (no entrance into the Dorval-Lachine industrial park.
  • No mention about how they will have the bixi docks even tho we already have bixi

Why would they use fare gates at an EXO station? It seems like an absolute waste of space (no need for large throughput constantly) and money (it’s cheaper to just install validators on commuter rail).

The goal of fare gates is to make the role of fare inspectors easier since it creates a narrow passageway on which they can easily identify the few fare evaders amidst the thousands of rapid transit users. On commuter rail, all you need is 2 fare inspectors to knock off the ~50-100 people that get off on one train at a station without the need for a dedicated FPZ.

And while I agree that they should consider a new entrance to the industrial park, I love that they’re integrating the new entrance into surrounding architecture.

Speaking of accessibility, there’s no plans for the Vaudreuil-Hudson line to become accessible, so rendering this station (which is the most physically constrained station on the segment → costs would be astronomical) accessible wouldn’t serve any purpose, especially with LL not having elevators, the same being true of all other stations along the line except Vendome.

J’espère que cette modernisation inclue aussi les quais qui font assez dure en ce moment

Ça me surprend. C’est l’une des gares avec l’un des plus faibles achalandage de la ligne non?

Au contraire c’est l’une des plus utilisé (si on exclus Vaudreuil et Beaconsfield, Vendôme et Lucien L’Allier)

People come here instead of going to Dorval?

We have 0 transfer with the bus except the taxibus

Non. Le tunnel piétonnier demeure inchangé et il n’y a pas de place dans l’emprise pour construire un ascenseur sans toucher aux emprises du CN juste à côté

They plan to utilise there train shelters for Lachine, known for having 0 shelters


They also plan to have 0 shelters on the VH side due to NO ONE EVER DOING THAT

During the works, EXO is planning 3 options for passenger service. for freight service they can already skip the entire station using the CP deviation line.

Option one is using the cp freight Yard on the train line.

option two and three consists of basically using a train bus exclusively and or with the train service on the deviation lines.

I would have to assume the trainbus would HAVE to be from Dorval

The other option if the STM does not want to deploy any bus would be temporarily add the doval Terminus as a station for the lachine taxi bus

Il est prevu pour quand ce projet?

Is there an expected start date for this project?

C’est dommage que EXO ne s’efforce pas à conserver le style de la réno des années 80 (lampadaires arrondis, abris rouges, enseignes de nom de gares avec les bancs métalliques intégrés) qui s’agencait particulièrement bien aux nombreuses gares historiques le long de la ligne.

Plusieurs gares ont été défigurées avec les années, notamment avec la changement pour des enseignes, clotures, stations d’informations bleues qui détonnent

Ces abris “typiques exo” sont d’ailleurs particiulièrement moches par rapport aux anciens designs et contribuent à ce bizarre “mélange de style”.

Le minimun serait de repeindre le tout en noir un peu comme a Vaudreuil pour redonner un peu d’unité
