Yeah, I understood that, and I imagine the intent was to have other Infra-led projects continue with the distinct scheme (B, C, etc), but as that’s no longer the case – and, let’s admit, since the A# system isn’t in the Montreal transit lexicon by any stretch – ARTM could change it.

Our network is nowhere near as complex as, say, NYC, but New Yorkers are very comfortable using the MTA or LIRR (etc) number or letter designation to represent a route rather than a line. So a 6 train might run DM⇋Brossard, a 7 could do AA⇋Brossard, while an 8 could be YUL⇋Brossard.

ARTM does not have the authority to change it, as it’s CDPQ’s responsibility/marketing choice.

Il pourrait très bien y avoir d’autres lignes éventuellement. Personne ne connait le futur. Et on est habitués au système actuel maintenant.
