Sorry to go to slightly off-topic here, but as there is no dedicated off-topic thread about Guy…
This got rolled down the hall to our office today, too valuable to leave in the bag room, it went out on the 1:52 Atlanta flight.
Normally on tour of the 16 or so playoff cities at this time of year, it was diverted to Montréal last week to be part of the various memorials to Guy Lafleur. Yes, you guessed it.
Yes, it’s the real one, the one kept in a vault in Toronto most of the year — not one of the replicas displayed at the Hall of Fame or at different public events and ceremonies. And it’s just sitting here in a common room right near my office.
NB: the case was locked the whole time it was out of sight of the Cup’s full-time custodian, but he graciously opened it to allow us to take selfies before he went through security and US Customs.
