It’s great that Sid Lee is doing the architecture of this station. RTM’s branding to exo was done by Sid Lee so it’ll be interesting to see how they implement exo’s brand into this station!
Here’s the document regarding the station, and it goes in a lot of depth of everything, including the lighting, plants, floor plans of building, and more:
If those buildings are at the end of their lifespan, then it’s pretty safe to assume that all the platform accesses and/or tunnels at stations from Lachine to Beaconsfield also need replacing.
Based on their track record I’m not convinced they’ll be updating the signage anywhere soon unless they’re planning a big rollout. At Vaudreuil for example, the new platform has new signage, but the old one still has some test signage they put up just after the Exo name was introduced.
Getting off track, but the STM isn’t much better at it. Dorval is like a little signage museum, featuring bus lines like the 221 and trains to Rigaud, which both stopped existing over 10 years ago. There’s lots of homemade signs too.
The last one is identical to the signs at Bonaventure metro station, same beige colour with black top portion and arrow. They have updated ones but this one is very dated and still used:
Going back to exo though, I wish they actually put more effort like the STM does when they renovate stations, don’t half-ass it, go all in and change all the signage.
Sorry to sound negative again, but when will we figure out that the dense core of a major metropolis is deserving of more than what amounts to whistle-stop rural train stations? We should be running shorter, more frequent trains, and platforms at every urban and suburban station should be covered from end to end. You already know my opinion about level platform boarding… Lol
It’s okay lol. Even if it has been said, it needs to be repeated and repeated again. Exo and all the other “commuter” railways on this continent are embarrassing.
