AC suspended DTW and MSP last winter as well, so there’s nothing new here. They tend to copy paste a winter schedule and then makes changes as the season gets closer. As for JFK, how many times has AC tried to make this work when you can just funnel everyone through LGA. I don’t see DL rushing to get back on this one either.
Our flights are full, and we are upgauging. The 321 to ATL leaves full every morning, as do the 320/319s later in the day. Our DTW and MSP are full as well. As I’ve said before, AC can’t successfully funnel through airports where UA has little activity, and as for AC using so-called sixth freedom rights to attract US passengers from ATL, DTW or MSP through to Europe via YYZ and YUL, they are simply battling brand loyalty in those hubs, the same way they battle UA loyalty out of Chicago. Americans would rather pay more to fly on their preferred carrier than to fly AC and stop in Canada. Where they are successful with that is LAX-YXX-Europe, which is why the XLR will operate it.

It’s all about slots. DL’s few slots were much more profitable running other routes than YUL. Much of our JFK traffic was basic-economy ticketed through to Africa and South America, with low yields.

Le français n’est pas sa langue maternelle, mais cela n’empêche pas Anko van der Werff de converser dans la langue de Molière. C’est le Néerlandais et vétéran de l’industrie aérienne qui prendra la place de Michael Rousseau aux commandes d’Air Canada.
Ce changement n’est toutefois pas imminent. Actuellement président et chef de la direction de Scandinavian Airlines, le gestionnaire débarquera de ce côté-ci de l’Atlantique – plus précisément au siège social de Montréal – « d’ici la fin janvier 2027 », souligne le transporteur à la feuille d’érable, dans son annonce, mercredi. Dans l’intervalle, le conseil d’administration gardera un œil sur l’équipe de direction de la compagnie établie à Montréal.
La Presse a pu visionner une vidéo interne de quelques minutes dans laquelle M. van der Werff répond à quelques questions en français, ce que son prédécesseur n’était pas en mesure de faire. Malgré un accent, le principal intéressé est en mesure de s’exprimer de manière fluide et compréhensible.
