Si vraiment vous voulez améliorer l’accès de la gare par rapport à Gatineau poussez pour faire des projets qui peuvent se connecter au o train en utilisant ces voies.
Mieux poussez pour améliorer le o train en vrai métro léger, juste le fait de ne pas aller au centre-ville d’Ottawa va sauver tellement d’argent ça serait probablement l’équivalent de la convertion si on fait bien ça.
Dans le cas de Québec, Montréal et Toronto il y a des options intéressantes, mais Ottawa c’est juste pas possible.

Exactement, ça donne l’impression que chaque ville de taille moyenne veut avoir un arrêt, c’est pas un métro, c’est un TGV, le moins d’arrêt le mieux…

C’est quoi ce truc? Le O Train est déjà dans les faits un métro, puisqu’il ne passe nul part sur des rues. Est-ce que tu parles de changer les rames et les stations pour y faire passer des rames de métro standard?
C’est exactement ça et installé des portes palières pour l’automatisation.
Des rames avec un petit gabarit on s’entend.
Ainsi que de mettre les lignes 2 et 4 au même standard.

You’re criticizing Gatineau’s mayor for advocating for a station closer to her city, while in the same breath unironically arguing for a line 1 retrofit… the colour of the kettle or something, idk…

I don’t see where is the contradiction here in criticising the push for a downtown station at the political level while it’s clearly unfeasible or prohibitively expensive and trying instead to find realistic solution like retrofiting the line 1.
Why that?
Because most of the reliability problem from line 1 comes mainly from the vehicles and the choice of using low floor instead of high floor. Since going downtown from the hsr station will require a transfer on the O train making this system as reliable as possible is a must.
Also, upgrading the mainline will add more capacity, this capacity could be use to extend the system with branches at a far lower cost to area of Gatineau and making a sort of S-Bahn for the Ottawa/Gatineau region like I propose in my work.
The thing is not that I blame the mayor for trying to push the project with the interests of her citizens in mind, no it’s her job, but rather I blame her for continuisly pushing for a solution that is completely unrealistic to achieve this goal, while this energy would be better spend in something that can reasonnably be done.
Politicians need to realize that, instead of always proposing solutions that are only in the interests of their citizens and not in the interest of the majority, for these kind of important projects, while other solutions are possible, is just wrong as well as presenting a lack of vision.
